English Sucks

In this article I talk about English language and in particular about its many drawbacks, history and effect on our society. I also talk about Spanish as a rising alternative to English, at least in the research world

English has been the most spoken language for hundreds of years at this point. It's even got to the point that it has become an "international language". Previously, this title was reserved for Latin and Latin is now a dead language barely used for any communication! But Latin was used for a purpose, it had an entire era behind it, many scientific works were written in Latin and, with how education was at the time, if you knew Latin, you were an educated person, capable of not only reading, but even writing scientific works and exchanging knowledge. Now everybody knows English, and it's not even that good of a language

English is one of the very few gendered (and by gendered I don't mean 'bias') languages to ever exist, let alone dominate the language landscape in the modern world. Only in English if I say "he" I refer to a male and if I say "she" I refer to a female. Some other fairly popular languages lack grammatical gender, but it's always paired with pronouns that don't refer to the actual physical gender. Only in English, pronouns are not simple words and a matter of linguistic discussion, but a matter of personal choice, political debates and something to be offended by. You register on social media, and it offers you to "choose your pronouns". Seriously. Not choose who you feel romantic towards, not choose your gender, no, choose your pronouns as if it somehow makes you unique and quirky. I have to avoid using "he" and "she" to form my sentences and make them understandable, the very foundation of any language, for some Twitter e-celeb with "not like the other" "pronouns"? Was English made for crybabies who can't survive without their "unique" gender being mentioned for one sentence? Obviously, only now is it such a problem, but the proposed solutions are registering new pronouns as a crutch and to at least make sentences readable? Like no, just use a normal language. And e-celebs are also riding that and try to include their own pronouns in the official language as well. Like yeah, thou is not allowed even though it makes sentences easier on the eyes, but ze and xe, yeah, now that's what I am talking about, ze and xe. And I know that it's some linguist coming up with these ideas, but they are not good, and only stay there due to e-celeb bandwagon.

And speaking of thou, the only reason this perfectly functioning, all gender-neutral and healthy pronoun was abandoned, is because of some softies who couldn't take such a "rude" and "raw" pronoun. No, they want to call them in third person to show respect, to show that they have authority. This is like a past version of e-celebs removing features of the language to suit them personally and now it's back full circle and e-celebs want to ruin the language again for their own profit. And it's even ironic because thou made sentences easier to read, and they removed it, and now they claim that they want them easier to read. And it's not like those "elites" are going to form any meaningful sentences anyway, so it's like a net gain for them - not only do they get everyone to call them how they want, but they also bring everyone's sentence forming abilities down to theirs. Let the people who actually know linguistics make changes to the language and not some e-celebs making massive sweeping changes to the language to suit them, and them specifically.

And hey, do you know why these "elites" can do that? Because the English language has no authority. Previously, there was the English crown, and it defined the language, it was the golden standard and changes to it were made only by actual linguists, and they were not to suit their personal needs, but to make the language better and the changes were light and natural. Now there is British, American, Australian and others. Even in USA, English differs from state to state. And each of these languages has its own rules. And when there is no authority, crybabies and e-celebs gather to change the very foundation of the language because they just want to. I am telling you, in 20 years, English as we know it today will be gone and at best there will be a popular alternative called "American English"

Why is it such a popular and international language still? Oh yeah, because England ruled half of the world once and so half of the world had to speak their shitty language, I get it now. No, seriously, if you like reading in general, please learn a different language - I am often thinking about only writing articles in one language, but for now it's just thoughts. Spanish right now is a very promising language that has none of these flaws or the many archaic rules that I didn't mention, because they exist in many languages and are not a flaw specific to English. And Spanish is rising with many scientific articles being written more and more in Spanish, and not just big scientific discoveries, but also small individual researches

But guess what, the e-celebs are also trying to brutalise Spanish with "Latinx" which has the same root as "ze" and "xe" and doesn't even make sense in Spanish since it's a gendered language. Go ahead and massacre English, but don't touch the actual good languages for God's sake...

(PS, if you expected to see here general critique of the language and the fact that it's a combination of multiple languages and how bad it is, I reccomend reading this article: (WARNING: the article is written by a french person))
